- Links added. However, could you remove the comma from the 'Before Licensing' translation article title? Commas are used to separate translations, which is probably suboptimal. Thanks! Mike Linksvayer 00:11, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- 1) Ok. Ru:Перед лицензированием. 2) Can I to post in this wiki the translation of pages of main site, for example, translation of page http://creativecommons.org/about/? If the answer is "i can", how to name translated pages ("Ru:About" or "Ru:О проекте", etc)? Just site of "Creative Commons Russia" inactive since mid-2007 and almost always the site is not working. 3) Is it possible to add this video on some Creative Commons hosting (for example, http://mirrors.creativecommons.org/)? 4) Can I to post in this wiki the translation of full texts of CC-licenses (now it is here)? --TarzanASG 17:22, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- 1) Thanks! 2) You can. I'd say use a Russian title that describes the content, so probably "About CC" in Russian. 3) http://code.creativecommons.org/issues/issue322 4) Prefer you don't, there isn't an official Russian translation of the legal texts and we'd be sensitive about giving the impression there is. Regarding this and a CC Russia website, I could put you in touch with the person trying to get CC Russia started and licenses ported.Mike Linksvayer 03:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Very well! 4) Syb Groeneveld? I will write him e-mail. 5) Why don't work http://translate.creativecommons.org/ru/? I translated all the phrases on http://translate.creativecommons.org/ru/, but the page still shows "679 untranslated words". And how to translate others projects as it is done on the page http://translate.creativecommons.org/de/? --TarzanASG 11:11, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- 4) Yes, Syb is the person. 5) http://code.creativecommons.org/issues/issue323 Mike Linksvayer 14:10, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Pages to delete
I noticed you've done some deletions recently, according to the log, so I thought I'd notify you of some more pages that need that treatment. You can find them in Category:Pages to be deleted (which I just created). Thanks! JesseWeinstein 00:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Disabling editing
I wanted to let you know that I've now blocked, via the MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist the possibility for non-administrators to save pages containing any URLs that end with any of the major GTLDs (.com, .org, .net, .info), as a last ditch effort against the tide of spam we've been getting. This has the side effect of severely impeding editing by non-administrators, which we would rather not do. I think there are some more targeted solutions available, but I don't have access to them as a mere administrator, so I wanted to bring the situation to your attention. I'll keep watching for crap to clean up. Good luck. JesseWeinstein 17:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! We're looking into ways of throttling the bogus acct creation and subsequent spamming we're seeing. Mike Linksvayer 17:53, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Great. Let me know (via my talk page preferably, or email otherwise) if I can help in any way. JesseWeinstein 05:21, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- If it is feasible to install the AbuseFilter extension, that is quite flexible enough to allow me to block the current tactics of the spammers... But upgrading MediaWiki to support it might be a large hassle... JesseWeinstein 07:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
For the moment, would you just shut off account creation completely -- and tell people to email if they want an account? That would at least stop the deluge -- at this rate, it's not going to be feasible to clean up if it continues... JesseWeinstein 07:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

- This can be done (albeit inefficiently) by blocking all ~65,000 /16 ranges; I've done the first three as a demonstration here: Special:BlockList; I could hack up a script to do the rest of them if necessary. PLEASE, do something sooner rather than later, and render this unnecessary. Or just reenable the SpamBlacklist extension so I can use *that* to prevent the flood. Or just take the wiki offline; but somthing is urgently needed.
Cleaning up the mess
The page Special:NewPages provides a good list of the ~150 pages that need to be deleted. I see you've done some already; any (more) spare time you have to chop a few more would be certainly appreciated. JesseWeinstein 17:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Russian translation of Commons Deed
Hello again! Please help me. We want to publish Russian Commons Deed on CC website (on http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.ru) WITHOUT porting of licenses to Russian law. Why not? Esperanto version was published, but Esperanto don't have official status in some country. Russian version is important thing, it not just state language of Russia, it is lingua franca in countries of former USSR like Esperanto. Why not to publish translation? Can you help me? --TarzanASG 17:37, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hello again! Thanks for contributing to http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/CC/team/ru/ ... I'm looking into this, will report back here ASAP. --Mike Linksvayer 17:43, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- Also, http://code.creativecommons.org/issues/issue667 --Mike Linksvayer 18:02, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm... I don't understand this. =)) Explain to me, Russian translation will be published or not? When? --TarzanASG 18:24, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- So... what? --TarzanASG 20:48, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks! --TarzanASG 13:26, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Why Russian CC0 and CCSearch don't work? --TarzanASG 22:11, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- CC0 probably because latest changes aren't live yet. I believe http://staging.creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.ru ought reflect what is in transifex. I will check with our sysadmin on pushing live Monday. Search, we're about to make some major changes, so translations haven't been updated on the live site for awhile. I'll write back Monday on status of that as well. Thanks! Mike Linksvayer 01:02, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Also don't work Russian License Chooser (text in English, but it translated to Russian), but early Chooser works. --TarzanASG 07:32, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

creativecommons.ru
Hello again! I want create Russian CC website. Can I get access to settings of creativecommons.ru? Or can you make some changes in settings of creativecommons.ru? --TarzanASG 00:13, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Generally such sites are run by a jurisdiction affiliate, but current behavior of http://www.creativecommons.ru/ isn't optimal. I'm going to have to discuss with others in CC. I'll give you an update as well as ETA re above turning on Russian deed translations next week. Thanks for poking on this. --Mike Linksvayer 19:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- For now http://creativecommons.ru has been made to redirect to http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Ru:%D0%97%D0%B0%D0%B3%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B0 though for some reason www. isn't yet, will soon. Mike Linksvayer 01:18, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Can you give creativecommons.ru to me, not redirect to wiki? I create prototype of Russian page and want that you change NS-servers to ns.narod2.ru and ns1.narod2.ru or add CNAME: "creativecommons.ru IN CNAME creativecommonsru.narod2.ru". --TarzanASG 06:07, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
