LiveContent is an umbrella idea which aims to connect and expand Creative Commons and open source communities. LiveContent works to identify creators and content providers working to share their creations more easily with others. LiveContent works to support developers and others who build better technology to distribute these works. LiveContent is up-to-the-minute creativity, "alive" by being licensed Creative Commons, which allows others to better interact with the content.

Media Content Directories Content APIs

LiveContent can be delivered in a variety of ways, such as through LiveDistros. These have traditionally been a vehicle to test an operating system or applications live. The operating systems and/or applications are directly booted from a CD, DVD or other type of media without needing to install the actual software on a machine.

Creative Commons doesn't maintain a list of CC-licensed media, but we encourage the community of organizations and services with CC-powered projects to add themselves to the Content Directories. This is a listing of creative initiatives using CC licensing. We provide an intuitive form to make it easy for you to add your project. Share your creativity and check out the others who are using CC too.

LiveContent aims for better standards and API specifications so that others can manipulate CC content feeds. LiveContent 2.0 demonstrates the autocuration process, made possible by well-documented APIs from organizations like Flickr. Check it out here and help us standardize.
