Nordic Culture in Focus
Lessons learned from the Nordic network of Creative Commons affiliates. For this session, project lead Jonas Öberg is proposing to talk about an initiative funded by the Nordic Culture Point and Nordic Culture Fund to engage the artistic community in the Nordic countries and encourage their use of Creative Commons, a project which also established a Nordic network of the local Creative Commons groups in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. --Jonas Öberg 19:50, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Fundraising 101
There are few affiliates that have not at one point or other thought about fundraising, or at least lamented the lack of funds available for their local initiatives. During the spring of 2011, Creative Commons has run a fundraising course on P2PU to encourage and develop fundraising activities. I propose that we follow up on this during the Global Summit and start off by a get together of affiliates to talk more about fundraising, the options available, and network between the affiliates interested in developing their strategies for fundraising further. --Jonas Öberg 19:50, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Automated Media Creation
AudioImager is a video creation system: It turns audio into descriptive video with the aid of tags and open content images available in online image repositories. It drastically reduces the time and resources amateur creators need to create videos. AudioImager presents a novel approach to video creation which emphasizes increased automation and the legal re-use of image repositories. AudioImager is a tool for story telling. It is expected to be used for example by musicians with no skills and tools to produce music videos, political commentators, parody makers, or educators who want to enhance their message with images. The major problems targeted to be addressed by AudioImager are : - How to make video creation process less challenging but more entertaining for amateurs ? - How to find free and relevant media that can be legally used in video production ? --Hxhietan 15:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC) [add here]
Events
As Creative Commons stands for more than just a license I believe it's time to address the real problem of distribution of wealth and power throughout the world, which caused the creation of CC in the first place. The young people of the world are many times the ones less educated about the real danger of having no negotiating power in society whatsoever and no culture of their own to stand proudly to. It is therefore I believe in educating the youth through encouraging their culture to grow side by side with the culture of those middle-aged professionals who already hold educated views. Throw a dubstep night, invite Mala (DMZ) and watch miracles happen! Dubstep in it's core is a culture that rose from the slums of London and it is those people that would spread the word about CC in a very effective way if they would be educated on the consequences of nowadays copyright laws. Music unites. And we -the young- make culture too.
The future of our society is in our youth (whether you like it or not)
