Potential unconference session topics

There's a lot of time to run informal, unconference sessions and workshops during the CC Global Summit. We have several extra rooms available. Below is a non-comprehensive list of session ideas which are not a part of the formal Summit program. We encourage interested persons to sketch out ideas for the topics below, or add different ones if you're so inclined. Also, please suggest a preferred time slot for your session, which are listed at the bottom of the page. Note that your session doesn't have to fill the entire time available.

CC and TOS/EULA compatibility

  • Sunday 9:00-10:40 Raspberry Hall
  • Organizer(s): Tyng-Ruey Chuang
  • Description: We shall talk about issues of using CC licenses in the context of content hosting services like Flickr and YouTube. Ask yourselves these questoins:
    • Why is that you still need to register to a website just in order to download CC-licensed materials from the site?
    • What does it mean when a website offers to mark your uploaded materials only as CC BY-NC-ND or not at all?
    • Can you upload your friends' CC-licensed photos to Flickr under your account?
    • You want to pull out and re-host many CC-licensed videos from YouTube. How?
    • When there are conflicts, which comes first? Terms of Service or CC Licenses?

And we shall have interesting discussions!
