Greetings All,

DISCLAIMER: You are receiving this message because you are part of the "Why not include Creative Commons in Facebook TOS?" group.

We have good and bad news.

Bad news first, FB answered our request to put CC on FB (ref: our last msg http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Facebook_CC_Integration/Msg20080322)

Here is the response to the question "Why doesn’t Facebook use one of the Creative Commons Licenses?":

"In some ways the license grant in the Statement is more limited than the Creative Commons licenses. For example, the Creative Commons licenses are all perpetual. In addition, the Creative Commons licenses require attribution “in the manner specified by the author” and contain other restrictions (such as including Uniform Resource Identifiers) that we do not believe are feasible in a system with more than 175 million active registered users."

You can read that here: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=183535615300 (response to comments on the new R&R)

More info here (in several languages): http://www.facebook.com/fbsitegovernance?v=app_4949752878&viewas=561958638

What do you think about that answer? please give your opinion on the discussion board of the group.

The good news: in the new R&R they keep the 7000 people requisite to make changes (see 12.3 of the R&R) so we know that a big group of people can make changes to facebook. Now we are more than 4500 now but we can grow to more than 10000 people. So please invite to this group all the CC fans you know.

If you have others ideas to get CC on FB please also give your opinion in the forum on the group.

Finally I would remind you join your regional CC group, to improve CC in every place. this is the list of the CC groups in facebook (if you do not see your country, please make a group)
