Potential unconference session topics

There's a lot of time to run informal, unconference sessions and workshops during the CC Global Summit. We have several extra rooms available. Below is a non-comprehensive list of session ideas which are not a part of the formal Summit program. We encourage interested persons to sketch out ideas for the topics below, or add different ones if you're so inclined. Also, please suggest a preferred time slot for your session, which are listed at the bottom of the page. Note that your session doesn't have to fill the entire time available.

Brainstorming session on open government data principles

  • we'd like to hold a drafting session on international open government data (legal) principles immediately after the "CC and the Broader Open Government and PSI Community" session
  • preferred time is 16:00 SATURDAY
  • there's been quite a bit of work by various groups over the last few years in developing principles for open government, but we'd like to have a community discussion of some of the legal-specific considerations that governments around the world should take into account when thinking about releasing data
  • the goal is to develop a set of principles that addresses the legal and other licensing issues to make sure that governments who mean to release their data openly actually have the tools, knowledge and guidance to do that
