The Al Jazeera Creative Common Repository hosts select broadcast quality footage that Al Jazeera has released under various Creative Commons licenses.

With the flexibility of the license we expect to introduce our outstanding coverage to an even wider audience across the world. This means that news outlets, filmmakers and bloggers will be able to easily share, remix and reuse our footage. — Mohamed Nanabhay, http://cc.aljazeera.net/content/launch-press-release

Technical Details

The Al Jazeera Creative Commons Repository has implemented 1) the license mark for the site and for individual videos, 2) CC REL metadata for the site itself, and 3) links to the Creative Commons brand and web assets.

License Mark

The CC license mark appears in two places. First, it appears in the footer of every page as an indicator that the site itself as CC licensed under CC BY-NC-ND:

The license mark also appears on each video page:

The CC logo appears in the header of every page and on the sidebar to the right:

Metadata

Al Jazeera has implemented a subset of the CC REL specification with the rel="license" attribute in some of its links to the CC licenses.

For example, see this code contained in the footer of every page marking the site itself as CC BY-NC-ND licensed:

<div> <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/"> <img alt="Creative Commons License" src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-nc-nd/3.0/88x31.png" /></a> </div> <div sytle="left; "> Unless otherwise noted content on this site is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/">Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License</a>. Please see licensing information accompanying each individual video. </div>

They have not implemented any metadata into actual video pages (e.g. the license marks for individual videos).

For example, see the source to this page:

<div class="views-field-field-license-value"> <label class="views-label-field-license-value"> License: </label> <span class="field-content"><br /> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"> <img src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by/3.0/88x31.png" /></a> This work licensed under <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"> Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported</a></span> </div>
