A sleep disorder can be described as a sleep pattern altered by one or a few factors of different origin, causing distress and having an impact on the person’s daily routine. To make sure your sleep disorder does not affect your life, treatment must be considered. Insomnia, sleepwalking, sleep apnea, narcolepsy and sleep terrors are the most frequent sleep disorders occurring in millions of individuals. Sleep apnoea is a condition that leads to short episodes of oxygen deprivation, when the patient stops breathing while sleeping. Narcolepsy is a neurological condition characterized by bouts of sleepiness that cannot be controlled. Noctambulism and sleep terrors are more common in young children. Insomnia is known to affect 60% adults in the United States of America at least once every week, so it’s currently the most frequently diagnosed sleep disorder in the world.
