The Creative Commons License application allows users to choose one of the six Creative Commons licenses to apply to the content they upload to Facebook.

This application was developed by User:Fred Benenson for Creative Commons.

Install

Features

  • License chooser modeled on Creative Commons'
  • Choose either photos, video, or profile text & Status updates
  • RDFa expression of Author, Title, license.

Known Issues

  • Licensing only works on a per-profile basis.
  • Only allows one license-per-profile
    • Photos could be licensed one way, text another, videos another, etc.

Bugs

  • Adds News Feed update before badge is selected (if users decide to go back and change license, then wrong status update is sent).

Suggested Features

  • CC Zero public domain dedication support.
  • More thorough popup w/ CC license descriptions.
  • Translation & choice of localized license
  • "Other" textfield to allow variable content types.
  • CC Network integration
  • Search users content who have chosen a CC license.

Code
