'''''Priorities for 2012 '''''
For the up-to-date 2014-2016 roadmap for CCANZ, please visit: http://creativecommons.org.nz/roadmap-2014-2016/
- Promoting CC policies and best practice in the context of NZGOAL, education institutions and cultural institutions
- Strengthening ties with other CC jurisdiction projects and HQ
- Planning for future sustainability
==Deliverables (12 month forecast)==
It continues to be CCANZ's aim in 2012 to partner with other institutions and sector groups in order to create awareness and promote CC more effectively to more communities. Now that the project has re-established the basics, we should be using that base to see key institutions take up Creative Commons 'best practice' and/or Creative Commons policies. The way to best maximise our current position is to concentrate on helping institutions implement the tools on mass. We also have the timely fortune of being able to leverage of the open data and open government policy work which is driving uptake for the public sector.
'''Web resources'''
We are rebuilding our [http://www.creativecommons.org.nz jurisdiction website] on WordPress. The new version will make it easier for us to publish resources and communicate information clearly. Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
Maintaining our web presence from day to day is essential and will continue to be a part of the Public Lead’s key activities. Expanding CCANZ’s social media bases and channeling their admin through one web tool will be the next step. (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
''Update: [http://www.creativecommons.org.nz/ The new website has been launched].''
'''Affiliate Network Partnerships'''
Activities could include joint creation/aggregation of useful outreach resources; jointly run online workshops and seminars; competitions organised and run over multiple jurisdictions; partnering up with another CC project dealing with CC licensing in regards to national events such as disaster relief, traveling festivals, environmental projects or unique communities of interest. To be arranged in consultation with the Asia Pacific Regional Manager. (Matt McGregor] [Public Lead])
''Update: Matt attended the Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Jakarta on 10-11 November 2012''
'''Helping Facilitate CC related research'''
Non financial support for student research on CC related topics. To be initiated through VUW and UA faculties. ([http://www.victoria.ac.nz/law/staff/susy-frankel.aspx Susy Frankel] [Legal Team] and Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
The goal of a NZ licence use study (rather than a simple uptake study) will be completed. A sample section of licence use in NZ can be taken and examined for wording, attribution requirements, licence scope and use of licence metadata. (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
'''Engaging the community'''
[http://www.meetup.com/Creative-Commons-Wellington/ Public Meetups] will continue to be held in 2012. (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
''Update: [http://www.meetup.com/Creative-Commons-Wellington/events/56369962/ CC Meetup 'Creative Commons in Schools'] in April 2012''

''Update [http://www.creativecommons.org.nz/2012/11/creative-commons-is-turning-ten/ The 10th Birthday of Creative Commons will be celebrated in December 2012]
'''State Agencies and NZGOAL'''
The project will continue to support work in and around the [http://nzgoal.info/ New Zealand Government Open Access and Licensing Framework] by helping monitor uptake; building on case studies provided by OpenNZ; promoting the newly released [http://ict.govt.nz/programme/opening-government-data-and-information/declaration-open-and-transparent-government Declaration on Open and Transparent Government]; and continuing to engage with Agencies wanting to apply CC licences. ([http://nz.linkedin.com/pub/keitha-booth/6/774/595 Keitha Booth] [Advisory Panel], [http://nz.linkedin.com/in/rbest Richard Best] [Legal Team] and (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
'''CC and the Royal Society of New Zealand'''
More activities will be mapped out to engage the Society with NZGOAL and its implications for 'open science' and 'free culture', and to embed CC practice into the Society where appropriate. (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
''Update: Chatshop session given to staff in February, with CC licensing of [http://www.royalsociety.org.nz/publications/policy/ some expert publications] and [http://www.royalsociety.org.nz/teaching-learning/bp-challenge/challenges/ school science challenge guides] as the initial result''
'''Mix and Mash'''

[http://www.victoria.ac.nz/seftms/about/events/past-events March workshop given] to Victoria University of Wellington School of English, Film, Theatre, and Media Studies staff.''
''Update: The Public Lead has given presentations to the Creative University conference and to Waikato University library staff.
''Update: The Public Lead has given many presentations. For details, see the updates, below''
'''CC and Tertiary'''
We've received some good feedback so far about our real potential to help the NZ universities speak to 'each other' on the issue of open access, rather than in silos. More on this to come.
''Update: Creative Commons '[http://nethui.org.nz/events Open Research and OER in Tertiary]' event at the July 2012 NetHui conference''
''Update: [http://www.creativecommons.org.nz/open_access_2012/ CCANZ hosted a series of blog posts] on Open Access in October 22-28.''
'''CC and Education'''
CCANZ will continue to work directly with the [http://www.minedu.govt.nz/ Ministry of Education] on delivering support and regional workshops for schools on Creative Commons and Creative Commons Policies. (Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
The project will also maintain its relationship with the [http://wikieducator.org/OERF:Home OER Foundation] and support its facilitation of the [http://wikieducator.org/OER_university OERu] and the [http://wikieducator.org/Open_content_licensing_for_educators/Home Open Content Licensing for Educators] workshops. ([http://wikieducator.org/User:Mackiwg Wayne Mackintosh] [Advisory Panel] Matt McGregor [Public Lead])

'''Indigenous knowledge'''
In 2008, [http://www.victoria.ac.nz/law/staff/susy-frankel.aspx Professor Susy Frankel] from the CCANZ Legal Team and Huhana Rokx from the Council for the Humanities facilitated some discussion meetings on Māori knowledge and how it relates to the application of CC licences. It was proposed at the time that the project should explore the matter further after [http://www.waitangi-tribunal.govt.nz/news/media/wai262.asp relevant processes within the Waitangi Tribunal] had played out. Discussions among CCANZ team members will kick off again in late 2011. ([http://www.victoria.ac.nz/law/staff/susy-frankel.aspx Susy Frankel] [Legal Team], [http://www.hinerangihimiona.com/ and Matt McGregor [Public Lead])
Most of the Creative Commons stakeholders and community groups in New Zealand could be categorised under the following:
For the current structure of CCANZ, please visit: http://creativecommons.org.nz/about/who-we-are/
'''''Government.''''' Agencies and staff who advocate for ‘open government’ and the principles of open access in public sector information.
'''''Education.''''' Institutions and projects promoting E-Learning and open educational resources.
'''''Creators and/or self publishers.''''' Professional and non-professional creators who use open access as part of new business models and/or believe in free culture as a motivating cause.
'''''Private business.''''' On and offline businesses who utilise open access as part of their strategic operation.
'''''Cultural institutions.''''' Community spaces and archives who see the benefits of open access for the management of material and the greater good of the community.
'''''Māori knowledge communities.''''' Those vested in the study of and advocacy for Mātauranga Māori.
'''''Learned societies, Research Organisations, Think Tanks and Professional Bodies.''''' Such as Crown Research Institutes and Societies who see open access licensing as a stimulus to innovation.
'''''Social commentators.''''' Those maintaining that open access and shared culture benefits our society as a whole in many ways.
We try to strengthen ties with these communities by pulling in people from diverse areas on our Panel, and by collaborating with other projects.
