[[Media:|Download budget]] Discussion

Describe the project you are proposing as clearly as possible in just five sentences.

Something Wrong is the first comic series in Syria to target young people between 15 and 30 years old. It's published in muptiple chapters, which can be browsed/downloaded from our website. It deals with different aspects of life in Syria (social, professional, educational).

Detail the tangible project output (e.g., paper, blog post, written materials, video/film, etc.; this would be in addition to the final written report that successful grant recipients will be expected to deliver to CC at the conclusion of the project).

- The chapters can be browsed through our website. - The chapters can also be downloaded as PDF files. - Promotional meterials will be published throughout the life span of the project (extras, wallpapers ...)

Describe the community you are targeting. How would the project benefit the community?

We are targeting young people in Syria (and the Arab world in general) between 15 and 30 years old. The project will help the commuinty with addressing the issues that people face in their social and professional lifes. It also helps economically by starting a market that is virtually non-existent in Syria.br />

What is your relationship with the community you are targeting? Why are you the best individual/organization to lead this project? Do you have prior experience in related projects?

We are included in the community we are targeting (we're all between 23 and 27 years old) with difficulties regarding starting our own project, which puts us among the best candidates to address the issues faced by this community. We are well experienced in web design, and have self-taught comic artists (since we don't have the proper training for such a specialty in our country).

How will you measure and evaluate your project’s impact - on your main participants? Other contributors? On the larger community?

Larger community, since it's our target, and because we are depending on ads on the website and inside the comic chapters to fund the project.

How many participants do you expect to be involved in your project? How will you seek and sustain their involvement?

We currently have 7 members, and expect to expand the team to include about 5 more by the end of year 2010

Describe how your project will benefit Creative Commons' mission to increase the amount of creativity (cultural, educational, and scientific content) in "the commons".

CC is not very well known in Syria. We help by publishing under CC, using its logos, and helping people to understand it.

Describe what technologies and tools your project will use. What kinds of technical skills and expertise do you bring to the project? What are your technical needs?

We use the arts and concepts of creating comics (writing, drawing, painting ...). Our comics are computer generated so we use design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Flash, and Illustrator.

What challenges do you expect to face, and how do you plan to overcome them?

- Comminty not fully understanding that comics can be for grown-ups. We can overcome this with the help of fans of foreign comics/manga. - Lack of funds. We are trying to promote ads on the website and in the comic chapters, as well as sponsorship.

How do you plan to sustain your project after the Creative Commons funding has ended? Detail specific plans. How do you plan to raise revenue to continue your efforts in the future?

- Ads on the website and in the comic chapters, as well as sponsorship. - Publishing other comic projects created by us or other teams.

How can this project be scalable, or have a scalable impact?

This is our pilot project, so it's our first hands-on experience for creating comics. However, we are planning to add lots of other projects in the future.

What resources and support do you expect Creative Commons to provide to your project to ensure its success (if any)?

Mostly using the license
