The concept for O2CW grew out of the combination from Personal MBA idea of Josh Kaufman and the initiative Open Courseware of MIT, which are very successful and useful for educators. "The MIT OpenCourseWare was then initiated to provide a new model for the dissemination of knowledge and collaboration among scholars around the world, and contributes to the shared intellectual commons in academia, which fosters collaboration across MIT and among other scholars". - Wikipedia.

However, the main challenge in implementing the OCW is coming from educators, their disseminate ability is limited within their traditional presentation to the students. Meanwhile, millions people who have the Internet access, who are thirsty for knowledge... do not know where to go and what to do with OCWs and Internet resources.

In September 2006, Nguyen Vo Minh Hung approached the idea "Do it yourselves" from Josh Kaufman through the Personal MBA and he recognized immediately that this is the right way to implement OCW successfully. Learners study by themselves under the instructions from other people and they also become the instructors for others. O2CW is not to create the open courseware, it is to lead the learners to their needs.

"You’re not forcing yourself to learn something because someone else tells you it’s important: you’re learning it because you know it’s important and you value what you're learning. The entire learning process becomes more rewarding because you put more of yourself into the learning process, which makes a remarkable difference in the quality and applicability of your business education." -Josh Kaufman

O2CW is Oriented Open Courseware and its objective is how to use OCW for your daily work.
