[[Media:|Download budget]] Discussion

Describe the project you are proposing as clearly as possible in just five sentences.

The aim of this project is to support the knowledge society in Serbia by establishing the platform to provide Intellectual Property Rights details relevant for creating, using and re-using educational, scientific, artistic and media contents. These details are related on IP law terms and services including free licenses, open education resources and wiki projects' explanations. That will be a useful, comprehensive and unique IP database in Serbia in Serbian, a first and at present the one of a kind.

Detail the tangible project output (e.g., paper, blog post, written materials, video/film, etc.; this would be in addition to the final written report that successful grant recipients will be expected to deliver to CC at the conclusion of the project).

The result of the project will be visible by creating the proposed e-database and promotional material (flyers).

Describe the community you are targeting. How would the project benefit the community?

The target community is the Serbian intellectual community who are not able to access the relevant IP information at the same time on the same place. Providing the proposed database or the convinient place where all the information can be accessed, compared simultaneously, up-to-dated and checked for accuracy will enable this community to be more informed about rights, obligations and of the importance of sharing in the digital age.br />

What is your relationship with the community you are targeting? Why are you the best individual/organization to lead this project? Do you have prior experience in related projects?

Wikimedia Serbia brings together many creators from different backgrounds (students, academics, artists, developers, legal experts, teachers) interested and engaged in its projects. Formed a few years ago, Wikimedia Serbia is recognized as an active community connected with universities, NGOs, activists, media and some of governmental institutions. It is also known as a leader in free content issues in Serbia as well as the Affiliate Institution of Creative Commons for the Serbian jurisdiction.

How will you measure and evaluate your project’s impact - on your main participants? Other contributors? On the larger community?

The project's impact will be measured by amount of implemented data, PR activities and the number of web database visitors.

How many participants do you expect to be involved in your project? How will you seek and sustain their involvement?

This project will be realized by five participants, members of Wikimedia Serbia (legal expert/coordinator, developer, project manager/PR and two assistants for realizing the project promotion as a debate in the main Serbian academic centers: Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis). All the participants are very well experienced in their field of expertise and in the similar free projects issues.

Nevenka Antic is an attorney at law and the legal lead of Creative Commons Serbia. Milos Rancic is a linguist and the co-founder of Wikimedia Serbia. Vladimir Jeric is an artist and the public lead of Creative Commons Serbia. Mile Kis is a student of economy and working as a journalist, he is currently the co-editor of wikinews in Serbian. There are in Wikimedia Serbia many great candidates for the developer's position and one of them will be chosen soon.

Describe how your project will benefit Creative Commons' mission to increase the amount of creativity (cultural, educational, and scientific content) in "the commons".

We believe that the project will be constant, useful and accessible support in national and international intellectual interaction. Making the proposed database will raise the targeted community awareness of current legal terms and conditions as well as initiatives of creative potentials and their influences in local and global sharing or improving.

Describe what technologies and tools your project will use. What kinds of technical skills and expertise do you bring to the project? What are your technical needs?

We will use wiki technologies, CC licensing, legal and technical expertise existed in Wikimedia Serbia.

What challenges do you expect to face, and how do you plan to overcome them?

According our expertise and our experience in similar projects, we don't expect big challenges to finish this project on the proposed way.

How do you plan to sustain your project after the Creative Commons funding has ended? Detail specific plans. How do you plan to raise revenue to continue your efforts in the future?

Since the project's result will be visible, accessible and recognized as important for the intellectual creativity, it will be a good basis for finding funders in the future.

How can this project be scalable, or have a scalable impact?

This project is oriented on creativity in general - from marginalized to institutional.

What resources and support do you expect Creative Commons to provide to your project to ensure its success (if any)?

Proposing this project, we expect at first your sufficient financial support and than your promotional assistance.

Describe how your organization currently communicates with its community members and network partners. (100 words)

Wikimedia Serbia is very engaged in multiple actions, communication and connections on local and global level by wiki forums, mailing lists, official and non-official meetings, free issues debates and presentations.
