Creative Commons and the CC Affiliate Network work together to make our licenses and other legal tools as understandable as possible. For this reason, we are encouraging harmonized translations of important terms in the main languages in which CC’s key concepts are communicated, where possible. Our experience tells us this is particularly important for our license names and license deeds, and for the Creative Commons name itself.

The following list identifies languages where harmonization efforts have been undertaken. The listed terms in the respective languages were identified following consultation with Affiliates in jurisdictions where the language is used with license porting and education. These terms are the preferred terms for use by all jurisdictions where the language is used in connection with a CC project.

This list will be supplemented and modified from time to time with additional languages and terms as harmonization efforts progress. Please direct questions and ideas to affiliate-program [at] creativecommons [dot] org.
