Microformats take using semantics inherent in XHTML and add a process for agreeing on semantic XHTML syntax (i.e., XHTML elements and CSS class names) conventions, such that specific data formats can be published by different websites in a compatible fashion, e.g., event information (hCal) and contact information (hCard).
RelLicense is a simple means to indicate that a page is licensed. (Or when used within another microformat, that microformat is licensed.)
See http://microformats.org/wiki/licensing for work on using microformats to indicate that non-page objects are licensed and to provide complementary metadata.
