Describe the project you are proposing as clearly as possible in just five sentences.

The Philippines has just elected a new President and hopes to translate the Obama like election of President Noynoy Aquino in restoring decency and integrity in public service. President Noynoy wants to be called P.Noy, which sounds like the slang version of Filipino, 'Pinoy'.

The Philippine Commons movement would like to take advantage of this patriotic spirit by holding a digital photo contest under the theme of the Pinoys' expression of love for their country. All submissions shall be under a CC-BY-NC-SA Phils 3.0 license.

Through the competition, CC Philippines hopes to integrate freedom of Internet expressions in the life of the nation now under a new political regime, inspired by the People Power Revolution led by former President Cory Aquino and martyred husband Ninoy Aquino, the deceased parents of P.Noy.

Detail the tangible project output (e.g., paper, blog post, written materials, video/film, etc.; this would be in addition to the final written report that successful grant recipients will be expected to deliver to CC at the conclusion of the project).

The output of the project and the entries will be captured in a website under a CC license.

Describe the community you are targeting. How would the project benefit the community?

The project seeks the participation of digital artists and portray their expression of love of country and symbol of hope through CC in digital photography.br />

What is your relationship with the community you are targeting? Why are you the best individual/organization to lead this project? Do you have prior experience in related projects?

Being in the academe, we can easily establish linkages with digital artists and students who may wish to participate in the event. We have not undertaken a similar project before.

How will you measure and evaluate your project’s impact - on your main participants? Other contributors? On the larger community?

We will measure the project impact through the attention it will get from the public and mass media, as well as the participation of digital artists.

How many participants do you expect to be involved in your project? How will you seek and sustain their involvement?

We expect to attract hundreds of entries. We will form an organizing committee and a distinguished panel of judges to handle the selection of winners, which we hope to award during the anniversary celebration of Creative Commons on December 2010. The success of the event per se could make it a sustainable project in later years as it would most likely attract suitable sponsors.

Describe how your project will benefit Creative Commons' mission to increase the amount of creativity (cultural, educational, and scientific content) in "the commons".

Obviously, the project will harness creativity in digital photography as each entries must be able to adapt and conform to the theme of love of country.

Describe what technologies and tools your project will use. What kinds of technical skills and expertise do you bring to the project? What are your technical needs?

The project will utilize open source tools and application. Depending on the public response, the project may need assistance in terms of server hosting.

What challenges do you expect to face, and how do you plan to overcome them?

We expect some challenges in terms of defining the criteria to determine the winners of the contest. But we will manage to overcome this by consulting reputable artists and photographers in the Philippines.

How do you plan to sustain your project after the Creative Commons funding has ended? Detail specific plans. How do you plan to raise revenue to continue your efforts in the future?

We would want to sustain the project after its initial implementation via the catalyst grant through institutional or even government sponsorship.

How can this project be scalable, or have a scalable impact?

The project can be scalable in terms of public attention and entries it would generate.

What resources and support do you expect Creative Commons to provide to your project to ensure its success (if any)?

The catalyst grant that CC would provide.

Describe how your organization currently communicates with its community members and network partners. (100 words)

Communication and networking are done through the traditional personal contacts and mailing lists for announcements and information dissemination.
