Domain specific vocabularies exist which describe terms and relationships in a machine readable format. These terms could be used to aid indexing and help users refine their searches.
Note: This feature is based on an early analysis of the AGROVOC vocabulary in SKOS format, and is subject to change and refinement.
Requirements
- When indexing, look up subject terms in the vocabulary and cross-index with equivalent terms. For example, if "field" is defined as equivalent to "plot", resources tagged with "field" will be indexed with both "field" and "plot".
- When displaying search results with subject refinements, offer broader and narrower refinements for the search terms. For example, if a search is filtered with "subject:field", the interface might offer "See more: search for subject:soil" and "See fewer: search for subject:furrow"
