− | |description=Smart Kitchen is an application that populates all the products and/or produce in your kitchen for better organization and identification as well as a large number of other functions including, but not limited to: Downloading online recipes and automatically generating shopping lists, both of these based on the products and/or produce in the kitchen in addition to a wide variety of customizable features. The user has the ability to add, edit or update his/her "Kitchen List" via three methods: 1) USB Antenna device that scans the kitchen for RFIDs (Radio Frequency Identification); 2) By inputting a code that will be available on the receipt that connects back to the grocers' system and populates the entire statement and converts it into an itemized list; 3) Manually by picking from an infinite and complete list of products and produce.

I'm an interactive designer so every day I'm surrounded by ideas and needs to simplify things, make them more accessible and reachable to wider masses. Combining that with my passion I thought about this project.

− | |impact=This project will definitely increase cultural creativity. All the elements in this project are viral. Users can create and share their recipes based on what they have. Filter it by calorie count, nutritional value and even cost. It's a project with limitless possibilities. Scientifically this project will directly influence the development and further use of new technologies, like RFIDs, to simplify our everyday tasks. Its use will definitely encourage other entrepreneurs to implement this concept in other industries and mediums.

− | |tech needs=As stated before this project revolves around an application packet that consists of a software and a USB scanner/reader device. There will also be a mobile version of the application with its features and uses simplified and target to a mobile platform. The third element is a kiosk located at the grocery stores where the user will have the ability to log-in to his/her account, access his/her data and print a shopping list based on his/her needs. This shopping list will include a map of the store with a sort of a traced path to reach each of the items within the store. This has enormous marketing and advertising potential as coupons can be printed on to the actual shopping list/map and/or the path can lead the costumer through desired aisles. Finally there's the implementation of a system that will convert the receipt data into actual "itemizable" data to be read by the application. Apart from the USB Antenna scanner device that will ultimately need to be developed by an engineer, the rest can be easily done with your average software and application development applications. Example, Adobe Flash or Microsoft Silverlight can be used to develop the in-store kiosks.

− | As far as my expertise go I intend to pitch in with my UX design, information architecture and interactive design skills to build the most functional, accessible and efficient set of elements possible. Everything else, development and engineering wise, I need assistance with.

− | |challenges=Basically technical ones. It's a highly intricate system that requires minute attention to detail. Overcoming them would basically come from hiring the right individuals and setup the right team in the first place.
