Torrent files are used by the BitTorrent protocol to coordinate communication with the downloading clients and the tracker. Torrent files also contain metadata about the files being downloaded. Creative Commons is currently working with Torrent consumers, indexers and publishers to develop a simple specification for embedding license metadata in a torrent file. We hope to publish a BEP during Q2 2008.
