It appears that the SpamBlacklist extension was disabled; this does not seem like a good choice. In a desperate attempt to halt or at least slow down the flow of spam we've been getting, I did add .com (and I've now added all the GTLDs) to the blacklist (see my message to Mike for more details), but it would have been better to leave the extension enabled and just remove the .com entries from [[MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist]]. I left a phone message with Bonnie, hopefully we can get this resolved sooner rather than later, as the tide of crap is rising fast. Thanks for your prompt attention. Hey Nathan. It's good practice to check up on double redirects after you move pages on MediaWikis. I'll fix it right now.
By the way, do you know what happened to the Monobook skin? I don't want to use CC or CC4 since a lot of MediaWiki links I'm used aren't around. But the current MediaWiki classic skin that I'm forced to use doesn't make me very happy (i.e. less likely to edit ;) guaka 18:41, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
Pages to delete
I noticed you've done some deletions recently, according to the log, so I thought I'd notify you of some more pages that need that treatment. You can find them in Category:Pages to be deleted (which I just created). Thanks! JesseWeinstein 00:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing those; I've found (and I'm going to find) a few more now. JesseWeinstein 02:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- There seem to be a number of pages that end with ".php", all of which are some kind of attempted exploit, and should be deleted. JesseWeinstein 02:25, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for doing those. I'll go find another batch now. ;-) JesseWeinstein 18:40, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- OK, next batch queued up. And the ones on Special:Prefixindex/Content Curators/ and Special:Prefixindex/Cchost/, too. JesseWeinstein 18:51, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
User to block
And we've got our first visible spammer, Special:Contributions/Famke. Zap 'em, please. JesseWeinstein 04:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

SpamBlacklist disabled?
It appears that the SpamBlacklist extension was disabled; this does not seem like a good choice. In a desperate attempt to halt or at least slow down the flow of spam we've been getting, I did add .com (and I've now added all the GTLDs) to the blacklist (see my message to Mike for more details), but it would have been better to leave the extension enabled and just remove the .com entries from MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. I left a phone message with Bonnie, hopefully we can get this resolved sooner rather than later, as the tide of crap is rising fast. Thanks for your prompt attention.
