Just as in any part of the world were internet is available, sharing copyrighted works legally is a challenge to which Lithuanian legal system has not yet provided any effective solutions.
Legal expertise in drafting the documents, thorough communication with potential users, openness and teamwork.
Lithuanian experience of implementing the licenses could be useful to other Eastern and Central European Jurisdictions, sharing a similar history (independent and having private property, intellectual property only few decades, the legal systems need to constructed anew).
We work with Lithuanian lawyers, artists and content managers (academic institutions, librarians). Fragmentarily, we also involve lawyers.
We will proceed series or seminars, sending informatory material; other projects, involving creating and sharing CC licensed art will depend on our capacities (especially volunteers that we manage to attract).
As our main goal will be to introduce Lithuanian version of the license, when introducing we plan to involve as many communities as possible.
Our primary goal is to spread information online and organize introductory events to present the Lithuanian version of the Lithuanian version of the license.

o Why is it important? The licenses in local language will be much more understandable and therefore eligible for use. o Which communities will benefit? The present team consists mainly of lawyers that have very limited time resources, thus our team is too slow. We need more people to be able to effectively engage in communication both with license users and CC headquarters, organizing events, fundraising, public relations etc. o Which communities will benefit ? We seek to increase clarity and availability, and to bring the information and communication to local level. o Which communities will benefit? We expect every related community to benefit. The impact will be self-evident: we will produce the Lithuanian CC license text. • How will you measure and evaluate your impact on focus-area 2? We will have a quantitative measure – the number of people that will join the CC Lithuania team and the qualitative measure – the expertise of such people and their skills. • How will you measure and evaluate your impact on focus-area 3? The impact will be partially self-evident: we will have a renewed internet site; we will also have the chance to make quantitative measuring of people visiting the site.
We have a strong team of lawyers but attracting people for other than legal functions is one of our main goals. We need either one person able to fully engage in administrative and organizational matters, or a group of volunteers able to devote time for administering communication, mapping our projects etc. and skilled in organizing events, public relations, project management.
Our first goal is to spread information on CC in general and our call for volunteers in all possible media. Being able to have a part-time employed person and financing the work at least in some extent would be a great benefit which would help us to attract more professional assistance.
We will need people skilled in programming to update the site but no particular technology is necessary.
We would like to be able to get financial resources to motivate the team member responsible for communication and organizing of work, as we would like a skilled and professional person to control both incoming information and outside communication.
We will consider fundraising however this is rather difficult due to time resources. Sustainability and Scalability
All of the legal team members are fully qualified both to translate and to adapt the license, therefore we do not see the inability of one of even few members as a major threat to our goals to launch the license and advocate for it. As concerns the update of our internet site, we have a potential replacement ready should there be any problems with present IT specialist.
We plan a series of events to introduce the Lithuanian license and also spread of information in articles, our internet site, Facebook profile etc. We will keep CC Affiliate Network updated by communicating with our regional manager and via e-mail list updates.
We plan a very scarce documentation as the objectives we are planning to reach are very common. We would appreciate advice on attracting more team members, fundraising and formalizing the team’s work. This is the only official language and with 82% Lithuanian residents, most of the residents are fluent in it.
