The organization Openlaw – Plattform für Recht und freie Software (Platform for Law and free Software), has filled the role of Legal Lead for Creative Commons Switzerland for several years. The tasks entailed, among others, the adaptation of Creative Commons in Switzerland and providing a point-of-contact for inquiries about the licenses.
Openlaw is an institute founded in 2003 by Dr. Mike J. Widmer, Dr. Christian Laux and Alex Schröder. Urs Gehrig, lic.iur, joined the project thereafter, and together they have overseen the porting of the Creative Commons licensing suite in Switzerland. The institute is dedicated to the legal aspect of Free Software, Open Source Software and Open Content in Switzerland. Openlaw provides information on its website, answers questions by mail, does consulting and delivers presentations targeted to the respective audience.
