+ Russian

Please.

  1. [[Talk:CcWiki:About#+ Russian]]
  2. Ru:ЧАВО
  3. Ru:О чем нужно подумать, прежде чем лицензировать свою работу под CC-лицензиями

Links added. However, could you remove the comma from the 'Before Licensing' translation article title? Commas are used to separate translations, which is probably suboptimal. Thanks! Mike Linksvayer 00:11, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
1) Ok. Ru:Перед лицензированием. 2) Can I to post in this wiki the translation of pages of main site, for example, translation of page http://creativecommons.org/about/? If the answer is "i can", how to name translated pages ("Ru:About" or "Ru:О проекте", etc)? Just site of "Creative Commons Russia" inactive since mid-2007 and almost always the site is not working. 3) Is it possible to add this video on some Creative Commons hosting (for example, http://mirrors.creativecommons.org/)? 4) Can I to post in this wiki the translation of full texts of CC-licenses (now it is here)? --TarzanASG 17:22, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
1) Thanks! 2) You can. I'd say use a Russian title that describes the content, so probably "About CC" in Russian. 3) http://code.creativecommons.org/issues/issue322 4) Prefer you don't, there isn't an official Russian translation of the legal texts and we'd be sensitive about giving the impression there is. Regarding this and a CC Russia website, I could put you in touch with the person trying to get CC Russia started and licenses ported.Mike Linksvayer 03:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Very well! 4) Syb Groeneveld? I will write him e-mail. 5) Why don't work http://translate.creativecommons.org/ru/? I translated all the phrases on http://translate.creativecommons.org/ru/, but the page still shows "679 untranslated words". And how to translate others projects as it is done on the page http://translate.creativecommons.org/de/? --TarzanASG 11:11, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
4) Yes, Syb is the person. 5) http://code.creativecommons.org/issues/issue323 Mike Linksvayer 14:10, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Pages to delete

I noticed you've done some deletions recently, according to the log, so I thought I'd notify you of some more pages that need that treatment. You can find them in Category:Pages to be deleted (which I just created). Thanks! JesseWeinstein 00:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Disabling editing

I wanted to let you know that I've now blocked, via the MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist the possibility for non-administrators to save pages containing any URLs that end with any of the major GTLDs (.com, .org, .net, .info), as a last ditch effort against the tide of spam we've been getting. This has the side effect of severely impeding editing by non-administrators, which we would rather not do. I think there are some more targeted solutions available, but I don't have access to them as a mere administrator, so I wanted to bring the situation to your attention. I'll keep watching for crap to clean up. Good luck. JesseWeinstein 17:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! We're looking into ways of throttling the bogus acct creation and subsequent spamming we're seeing. Mike Linksvayer 17:53, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Great. Let me know (via my talk page preferably, or email otherwise) if I can help in any way. JesseWeinstein 05:21, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
If it is feasible to install the AbuseFilter extension, that is quite flexible enough to allow me to block the current tactics of the spammers... But upgrading MediaWiki to support it might be a large hassle... JesseWeinstein 07:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

For the moment, would you just shut off account creation completely -- and tell people to email if they want an account? That would at least stop the deluge -- at this rate, it's not going to be feasible to clean up if it continues... JesseWeinstein 07:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
