Some software/services provide registries or similar whereby works can be looked up to establish with greater certainty that a work has been offered under a particular license, by a variety of methods: text/image matching, keyword, URL, hash...
- Safe Creative is a content registry.
- Attributor matches text.
- TinEye matches images.
- PicScout matches images.
- Vetting by a community such as Wikimedia Commons or posting by a user with a long history at a site such as Flickr may be a useful indicator.
