</a><em>Matkin, Gary W. William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Sept 2002.</em>

A group of twenty-two educators and representatives of the e-learning industry met on the campus of the University of California, Irvine, to consider the state of the reuse and sharing of learning-related Web-based material. Brought together with the notion that reuse and sharing of e-learning material had not met the expectations of higher education and the broader world of e-learning, the group discussed how this was becoming a crucial limitation on the growth and impact of education delivered over the Web.  Avenues to promote the reuse and open sharing of Web-based materials were explored. This paper, written by Gary Matkin, dean of continuing education at UC Irvine, builds on and extends discussion of the participants.

[http://learn.creativecommons.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/learningobject.pdf Learning Object Repositories: Problems and Promise<br />]''Matkin, Gary W. William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Sept 2002.''<br /> A group of twenty-two educators and representatives of the e-learning industry met on the campus of the University of California, Irvine, to consider the state of the reuse and sharing of learning-related Web-based material. This paper, written by Gary Matkin, dean of continuing education at UC Irvine, builds on and extends discussion of the participants.<br /> Available Format: [http://learn.creativecommons.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/learningobject.pdf [[Image:page_white_acrobat.png]]]

CC Learn is always on the look out for helpful and informative media championing the strengths of open educational resources. If you know of a good OER resource, helpful article, or interesting video, please let us know and we will examine it for inclusion. This page is constantly being updated, so be sure to come back and check out the latest information on open education. In addition to our resources, there is an abundance of other OER resource collections on the web. We have listed some of them here.

Avenues to promote the reuse and open sharing of Web-based materials were explored.
