The goal of this HowTo is to provide a basic step-by-step guide to the technical concerns when incorporating CC license metadata functionality into your desktop application.

Below are the two main areas where integration can occur in your desktop application.

Embedding of license metadata

Users are creating more and more media on their computers and they should be able to embed their license choice into those media files.

Tools to use:
Liblicense
Best Practices Example: License tagger

Display license metadata to user

The counter part to allowing content creators to embed their license choice in their media files is to enable media playing applications to display that information to the user.

Tools to use:
Liblicense
Best Practices Example: Banshee
