Teachers in South Africa face many challenges, including the implementation of a new curriculum requiring an outcomes-based educational (OBE) approach. By building communities Siyavula will help teachers find support and consolidate their learnings while also sharing resources. Siyavula will make a core set of materials available under an open licence that allows communities to adapt and collaboratively developing educational resources that realise the needs of the local context. Open licences enhance innovation and lighten the load on individual teachers and result in localised, content specific materials that are immediately useful to teachers.
