This is the general planning space for a December 2006 event home-based in San Francisco, CA, but synchronized with other CC Parties around the world, all throwing a party to celebrate Creative Commons' 4th birthday.

Plan

Who

Anyone interested in and already who knows the young Creative Commons anywhere in the world.

What

A birthday party for Creative Commons for all of the friends, users, developer and soon-to-be friends of Creative Commons. There will be drinks, music, videos and so much fun. Also, the event will be coordinated with other CC Birthday Party's in hopes of having a continuous birthday celebratino and synchronization to light up the blogosphere, explore CC-licensed content, and to meet up with friends.

When

Friday, December 15, 2006, 8 PM - 2 AM

(NOTE: The Wednesday, December 13th sf salon is cancelled to make way for this party!)

Where

At a venue of your choosing in different locations. For example, for San Francisco, Songbird loft space in the Mission, SF, CA, USA

Why

To celebrate Creative Commons birthday for the young Creative Commons and all of its friends in the global community, but in local meetings.

How

This will be executed by Creative Commons staff, affiliates, the community and partners, like Songbird.

Creative Commons Turns Four!

Please join us on Friday, December 15, 2006, from 9pm until 2am, to celebrate Creative Commons' birthday!

Raise a glass and toast the four years that CC has worked to promote and enable a participatory culture. CC's big day is being hosted by the good people at Songbird – the supercool open source media player that's taking the Web by storm.

Songbird is located at 777 Florida Street, Suite 300 in San Francisco, CA. The entrance is on 20th Street.

There will be an open bar, courtesy of Cooley Godward Kronish. There will also be a Special CC Birthday Brew, available for five dollars a bottle, courtesy of the "Free" Beer guys of Superflex.

Music will be provided by DJs Aus, Deckard, and Ooonce Oonce.

Since we're in the midst of our annual fundraising campaign, we'll be asking for a small donation at the door. Please contribute whatever you can to show that you support CC's work.

    • We will celebrate CC Birthday as part of "PrzeTWORY" (Preserves), a three day celebration of DIY culture, a workshop and market for recycled artistic and craft goods, organised as part of the "Praga Project" in the former factory of the Polish Optical Works. We will be present at the stand with CC gifts for visitors - free music burned at a Burnstation, DIY CD covers and postcards, an electronic postcard server and possibly other fun things. We hope to have a short entertainment event including stories about sharing and free culture told by a professional storyteller, a howto on recycling poems from Wikipedia and a short concert - all to be announced...

Eyebeam is located at 540 W. 21st Street, (between 10th and 11th Avenues) in Manhattan, New York.

There will be a bar provided by Eyebeam.
