The Power of Open/Description

Creative Commons is researching the innovation made possible by our infrastructure tools and will be producing a book called The Power of Open. This book will demonstrate the value of open innovation models based on collaboration, sharing, and remix. The Power of Open will include testimonials by thought leaders, as well as case studies of a wide variety of artists, educators, and entrepreneurs around the globe who successfully use Creative Commons' tools. We are also beginning to develop a set of metrics and collecting data to measure the value -- including economic impact on creators and consumers -- of the sharing economy. Once the book is completed, we will make it available in a variety of key languages and offer its materials online under a Creative Commons Attribution license, so that further translations and adaptations can be made. Furthermore, we will coordinate launch events in six major international cities.
