The portal (online since 2002) is aimed at promoting science, exchanging ideas and fostering knowledge sharing by providing high quality didactic contents not only to a scientific community but also to a general public. All lectures, accompanying documents, information and links are systematically selected and classified through the editorial process taking into account also users' comments.

Videolectures.Net is being used as an educational platform for several EU funded research projects such as PASCAL NoE, ECOLEAD NoE, SEKT IP and different organizations, among others Xerox Parc, British Telecom, Max Planck, Fraunhofer Institute, Australian National University and Carnegie Mellon. The range of countries involved and languages used varies from Europe, USA, Taiwan, Australia, Ukraine, Russia and Brazil.

Currently the portal includes mainly the contents from Information and communication technologies in particular fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Semantic Web and Data and Text Mining but is expanding towards Fine Arts, Humanities, Social studies and Law as well.

This wiki encourages anonymous users to contribute freely and create a non-censored dictionary of spoken Slovene. Unleashed Tongue (Razvezani jezik) has been online since December 2004 and so far more than 600 people have participated by writing or editing the articles. It became extremely popular and extensively quoted source of Slovene catchphrases, clichés and neologisms used by all generations and throughout the regions. Some phrases are only known to two people, some are canonised and considered traditional but most of them deal with the grey area of sex, drugs and death in a very creative and even cheerful way.

All the content in the dictionary is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike. The derivatives (the e-book from 2006 and the paperback book from 2007) bear the same licence.

== Motivations ==

Obviously the Unleashed Tongue entered the domain of linguistic science. However, the proper (referential) dictionaries in Slovenia do not catch up with the contemporary (spoken) language. The producer's aim is to offer/maintain a platform for the development of its associative and political potential. Similarly to the ‘reclaim the streets’ endeavours, the creators of the Unleashed Tongue would like to think of the web site as the ‘reclaim the language’ territory.

Therefore, the decision for the CC licencing is political and not commercial - the content has been created by more than 600 people and no one should have an exclusive right to capitalise on their work. The two books have been produced by the same organisation but the floor is open to anyone to exploit the raw material under the same conditions.

Apart from the online dictionary two "the best of" selections have been made so far: the e-book in pdf format (http://razvezanijezik.org/snopic/razvezani_jezik_0.pdf) and the paperback book in 2000 copies. The three products have, however, different features: for the two books the articles were selected and proof-read but not altered in any other way. For the paperback book the organisation of articles was changed (thematic clusters) and spiced with over 90 "folkpunk" illustrations.

Between 2001 and 2005 Artservis practiced the copy-left policy. With the introduction of the CC licences in Slovenia it adopted the AT-NC licence for the Data Base and Newsletter content, and AT-NC-ND for the Manual and Context content.

== Motivations ==

Artservis is an online media which serves as a practical grass-roots tool that empowers individuals by sharing relevant information and advice. It relies on the open flow of information and tailors it to the needs of the people involved in contemporary arts. Its main qualities are sustainability and openess (no charge or even registration is requested from the users). The CC licences enable any user to understand the conditions of re/use.

Sustainability, however, is not secured so Artservis is fighting to keep the conditions above unaltered. Currently there's a petition ([http://www.ljudmila.org/~peticija/index.php?page=petition&id=2 Bang!] opened in support. Artservis has also initiated formation of a new network [http://inseecp.blogspot.com/ InSEEcp] for the independent cultural portals in the SEE region.

This wiki encourages anonymous users to contribute freely and create a non-censored dictionary of spoken Slovene. Unleashed Tongue (Razvezani jezik) has been online since December 2004 and so far more than 600 people have participated by writing or editing the articles. It became extremely popular and extensively quoted source of Slovene catchphrases, clichés and neologisms used by all generations and throughout the regions. Some phrases are only known to two people, some are canonised and considered traditional but most of them deal with the grey area of sex, drugs and death in a very creative and even cheerful way.

All the content in the dictionary is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike. The derivatives (the e-book from 2006 and the paperback book from 2007) bear the same licence.

== Motivations ==

Obviously the Unleashed Tongue entered the domain of linguistic science. However, the proper (referential) dictionaries in Slovenia do not catch up with the contemporary (spoken) language. The producer's aim is to offer/maintain a platform for the development of its associative and political potential. Similarly to the ‘reclaim the streets’ endeavours, the creators of the Unleashed Tongue would like to think of the web site as the ‘reclaim the language’ territory.

Therefore, the decision for the CC licencing is politicial and not commercial - the content has been created by more than 600 people and no one should have an exclusive right to capitalise on their work. The two books have been produced by the same organisation but the floor is open to anyone to exploit the raw material under the same conditions.

== Media ==

Apart from the online dictionary two "the best of" selections have been made so far: the e-book in pdf format (http://razvezanijezik.org/snopic/razvezani_jezik_0.pdf) and the paperback book in 2000 copies. The three products have, however, different features: for the two books the articles were selected and proof-read but not altered in any other way. For the paperback book the organisation of articles was changed (thematic clusters) and spiced with over 90 "folkpunk" illustrations.
